Reality Check: Know your BMI

Before you begin to be a defense contractor, getting ready to travel, work, and live in a different country, one thing that will definitely be something to keep in check is your BMI. Knowing what this is and how to regulate this before your medical exam for being "medically fit for duty" will be a huge advantage.

What is a BMI?

The BMI is a person's Body - Mass - Index and companies now require to know this measurement of tissue mass (muscle, fat, and bone) in an individual before he/she can deploy. This measurement is used to categorize if a person is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese, based on that value.

How is it calculated?

Great question! The BMI is calculated with a person's weight (in kilograms) divided by their height squared (in centimeters). After that number has been discovered, you would then multiply the weight in pounds by 0.45 (the metric conversion factor).

Check the chart below so that you can Know Your BMI.

As you can see by the chart above, the BMI varies by an individual's height and weight and since this measurement has been introduced it has been eliminating many unsuspecting and unaware individuals. Do you due diligence in understanding where you are on this chart beforehand, so when it comes to this point you are not surprised by the outcome.
